Replacing Old Cable

Requires Minimum Down Time

As Network Telecommunications and Cabling Standards change, you may find your cabling systems need to be replaced. Building codes may also affect your cabling requirements. Technological developments may also become a factor in your cabling needs.

In a fairly new building replacement may be able to be done with minimal down time for your company. Replacing cabling in an older building may require more down time. Relocation may be an option if your rewiring will take a longer time to complete. Older buildings may contain asbestos and may have to be shut down for long periods of time and require special equipment to do the job the way it needs to be done.

When replacing old cable, keep in mind that this cabling should last for as long as it possibly can. Choose a cabling system that will be able to grow as your company's needs expand. A cabling system that can handle data transfer speeds at a 10G rate or higher will greatly decrease the chance that you will have to rewire in the near future.

Ensure that you are well informed about the new cabling system by choosing a contractor that is reliable and will warranty their work. A well trained certified contractor should be able to answer any questions you may have about your new cabling. Make sure that you are educated about your new wiring, the total cost, the time you will have to be out of the office, and how long your business will be disconnected from your data sources.
